Kantha Quilt No. 12

Kantha blankets are cherished pieces of history, crafted from five to seven layers of old saris and hand-stitched by Bengali artisans using the centuries-old Kantha running stitch technique. Each vintage Kantha carries the colour, texture and character of the fabrics it was made from.

Because every blanket is created from repurposed textiles, no two are ever the same. Variations in colour, pattern, stitching, fading and signs of age are part of what makes each piece unique - traces of the life the fabric has already lived rather than imperfections.

Soft, layered and full of character, a Kantha can be used in so many ways - folded at the foot of a bed, draped over a couch or armchair, or taken outside for a picnic under the trees or on the Bakhoven boulders in the summer. If you love colour, texture and pieces with a little history behind them, this one will feel right at home.

Please note: As each blanket is vintage and one of a kind, variations in colour, pattern, stitching and general signs of wear are to be expected.

Care Guidelines:

Washing

• Wash your kantha blanket at 30 degrees Celsius or in cold water with a mild detergent to keep it fresh and vibrant. We recommend using the Earth Sap range and washing in isolation to other items.
• No bleach: Avoid using bleach to protect the integrity of the fabric and colours.

Drying

• Air dry only: Please refrain from tumble drying. Instead, hang your blanket to dry.

• Ironing: If needed, iron on a low temperature to smooth out any wrinkles.

• Sun protection: Avoid exposing your kantha blanket to direct sunlight to preserve its beauty over time.
